UPDATE YOUR 950 SOFTWARE
Fellow Outlaws:

We are pleased to let you know that everything is now in place to enable you to correct any Model 950 unit that exhibits the "No LFE output on DTS-ES" bug. Please read the following instructions carefully as the update options are different from those used in the past.

To have your unit updated, the following two options are available:

Option #1: E-Prom replacement by a local audio/video or computer service center. As the task of replacing the current E-Prom is relatively simple, we are comfortable in having you use the services a local audio/video or computer repair shop. Although we do not have specific "Outlaw Authorized" shops, any service depot that is franchised to handle one of the major audio, video or computer brands should be able to perform the update. You will need to select the shop, and we will send you a complete kit containing the replacement chip, the tool needed to pull the chip out, and detailed instructions. Based on our research, the update should take less than 15 minutes, so if you make an appointment with them in advance, it should be easy to have the swap done while you wait.

We will reimburse you for the cost of the bench repair up to a maximum of $48. Once the update is completed, send us the original repair receipt (and keep a copy for yourself). You must also include the chip that was removed and the removal tool in the postage pre-paid envelope included in the update kit you will receive. As soon as we receive the chip, puller and the paperwork, we will issue a credit to the same credit card used to purchase the Model 950.

Note that the return of the old chip and the puller within 1 month is essential for you to maintain warranty coverage. We are providing you a postage paid envelope to return of these parts. In the event that these items are not returned to us, whether or not a service charge receipt is enclosed, the unit will not be covered under the Outlaw Five Year Warranty.

Option #2: For those who do not have access to a competent local repair shop, and wish to have us perform the modification to your specific Model 950, we will arrange for you to send the unit back to our facility in Massachusetts and we will update the unit and return it to you within five working days of its arrival. We will pay the ground freight both ways. Note that we are not responsible for any damage caused if you do not use the original 950 packaging.
