Terra has been supplying speakers to the Custom industry for over 9 years. They actually manufacture their speakers (including the woofers) in Maine and every Terra speaker is rated to withstand all climate exposure including salt (think boats) and chlorine spray (think hot tubs and pools) without concern. Terra speakers carry a Limited Lifetime warranty and are ideal for use anywhere you want great sound in the great outdoors. They're built like the proverbial "brick pizza oven" and are designed to look good mounted anywhere around the house.
Terra employs several interesting technologies. These include:
MFCS™ Magnetic Fluid Centering System which replaces the woofer’s typical “spider” with a specially formulated magnetic fluid. This eliminates the spider as a temperature and climate related concern.
ACAD™ Anodized Ceramic Aluminum Diaphragms are used in every Terra woofer. These single piece concave designs are impervious to the elements, unusually stiff, yet light enough to deliver excellent transient response.
UniCavity™ enclosures that are rotationally molded from a polymer based resin. Their ¼ inch thick walls and rounded shape make them particularly stiff and non-resonant. And since they’re molded in one piece, with openings only for the drivers and terminal cup (which are sealed with gaskets when they’re installed), there’s no worries about moisture or insect penetration.
UniCavity enclosures are UV resistant and will maintain their color (which isn’t a painted finish but permeates all the way through the resin) through years of outdoor exposure.
A heavy-duty aluminum pre-drilled mounting bracket that’s powder coated to match the speaker’s color. The bracket is designed to be installed vertically or horizontally and will easily snug into a corner. A pre-drilled hole allows a security screw to be installed that locks the speaker in position after the end caps are tightened and also acts as a theft deterrent. The rest of the holes allow for a plethora of mounting possibilities. Oh, and the end cap screws themselves are particularly large and easy to loosen or tighten.
